Good Tuesday morning party people!
Yup, that's me bright early this morning gettin my burn on over at Barre Bee Fit. Can yah tell I was trying real hard to keep my eyes open?!
Aside from obvious sleepiness, I was super stoked to get back to BBF! I hadn't been since before I left for Israel, and I totally missed the muscle burning, and stretching goodness! Note to self: Need to stretch more often, I'm getting to be less Gumby like :(
Before I get into the rest of my morning, I want to take you back to yesterday, you know, when I decided to try out a super duper tough class called the Spartan Workout?...the one modeled after the workout used to prep the actors for 300?!
Yeah, this one. Side note -- I totally felt like screaming like this halfway through the class. In.Tense!
Anywho, I found out about this class through this super cool program i'm doing for the month. There's a new cool "gym membership" you can do in Chicago called urbanfitclubs.com . Basically, you pay 1 monthly fee, and you get access to a bajillion different boutique studios and gyms around the area. I don't think I'll do it more than a month, but it's definitely a fun way to try out the different cool stuff going on around the city. Here's their current list of participating gyms:
That's so awesome right?! I basically signed up because they had some Crossfit gyms and my beloved Barre Bee Fit, two things I would never be able to afford at the same time, but through this membership I totes could!
As I read through the list of gyms, I decided to venture beyond Crossfit and BBF, and started looking more into Team iFit. They're a pretty hip gym, with what looked to be a bunch of kick butt classes, and it was within walking distance from my office - SOLD!
While checkin' out their class schedule, I came upon the Spartan Workout, and that's how I got my bootay handed to me yesterday - 300 style ;)
I cataloged my "preparation for glory" for your benefit before the class started:
Lookin' prepped for glory Lil B ha!
The workout was just as grueling and sweaty and awesome as I thought it would be. Well played Team iFit! I was going to take a post workout pic for you guys too, but to be honest, I couldn't lift my arms that high, and seriously y'all -- do you really want to see a pic of me as a hot, sweaty mess?!
Let's just all pretend I looked like this coming out of the class ok?
OK!
On to FOOD!!
Ok, not quite how I dined, but I thought it was still fitting :p
I learned a very important Paleo lesson about 1/3 of the way through the class -- Lil B needs to get herself some carbs before a grueling plyometric and weights workout! Easy y'all! I'm not talking simple carbs or grains, I'm talking like a banana or some dried fruit...I started feeling a little light headed in the middle of class and it's totally because my blood sugar dropped real low. Lesson learned: Fuel for workouts properly ;)
After an amazing workout, my legs were barely able to carry me home so dinner was the most boring, simple, yet totally delish meal evah!:
Sliced cuke, tomato, yellow pepper, and sardines!!
Hey! Don't knock my sardines til you try them. They're sooooo good for you, and they're mighty tastey too! I also had a handful of raisins and a coconut water to replenish my sugar stores :)
On the same note, breakfast this morning was just as boooooring -- but still super yum:
Sliced Apple, yellow pepper, and tomato with two eggs
Oh! And this:
mmmmmm hazelnut coffee with almond milk and cinnamon :)
Alrighty y'all, that was the quick recap of last night and this am. I'm actually going to get a coffee refill (can you say, addict?!), and get down to biznass!!
Hope everyone has a kickbutt Tuesday!!!
